Frequently Asked Questions
-
The turnaround time for the return of your complete memorial package is about 1 ½ to 2 weeks. ( most people don’t want a lot of details, so they are likely only asking about when they will get their pets cremation back and that is how they ask) But if they want an amount of time, they will be more specific, or you can ask to clarify the questions. BUT The actual cremation time varies by weight and if the equipment was hot or cold when loaded, which machine it is etc.. could be anywhere from 3 to 6 hours.

We accommodate the smallest creatures such as birds and lizards and can take care of the largest canine breeds as well. Special arrangements would need to be made between us and your veterinarian to consider equestrian friends.
-
Eternal Paws, LLC guarantees that your pet’s remains and only your pet’s remains are returned to you. Our quality control procedures ensure that there is no co-mingling of remains. We use a stainless steel pre-numbered ID tag that stays with your pet throughout the cremation process and is returned with your pet’s remains.
-
Private cremation is the most requested service. When choosing private cremation at Eternal Paws, LLC. you can be assured that your pet is cremated in a private chamber. You will have only your pets remains returned to you, our metal ID tagging system guarantees this. We offer a choice of either a velvet drawstring “scatter” bag or a beautiful locally crafted wooden picture frame urn.
Communal cremation is basically a combined cremation, a few pets are cremated together. Remains are not returned but are respectfully contained in the beautiful Spokane Valley.

If it is planned for later that day or the next day, these tips will help:
Keep your pet as cold and dry as possible.
If the family is emotionally able: a plastic bag or rubbermaid - plastic tote is handy to contain fluids and protect the pet
A cool dry cement floor, porch, shed, truck bed or trunk can be helpful if it is cooler outside than it is inside.
Don’t wrap or cover the pet in a big blanket or comforter - a light sheet or pillowcase will work if desired. - a light cover rather than a thick blanket allows the heat to leave the pet's body and start cooling off rather than retaining heat. - which helps preserve the body.
You may want to lay down a couple of pee pads or an old dish towel under their head and between their legs to catch any fluids. This will help protect your vehicle and floor.
If you have freezer space and are comfortable using it, you may keep them in the freezer. This is what veterinarians do and what we do to preserve them until it is their turn for cremation. (occasionally people keep their pet in the freezer for a long time, waiting for a decision or funds).
Cement floors pull the heat from bodies and start the cooling process even in hot weather.
Do not put the pet in a cooler with ice, the ice will immediately melt and then the pet will then be sitting in a pool of water.
Tips for moving pet.
Small pets can be transported easily in a small box with a light towel or pee pad under them to catch any fluids.
larger pets can be managed to move by laying a large strong towel on one side, right up as close to under their back as you can, and rolling them over onto the towel. The towel can then be used as a sling with corners as handles. A blanket can work like this too - but don't use a stretchy blanket.
You can also pull the blanket, towel or their bed to a location that is cooler, closer to the door, or to your vehicle.
I have seen pet parents use a rectangle board to transport their pets as well. Just roll their body onto the board and lift from each side.

We do not fill urns and jewelry that we don’t supply. If something happens to it, like it is dropped or scratched, we have no way to replace it. We are able to have remains returned in a velvet pouch and then the pet family or a friend of the family could place the pouch in the urn or open it for them as needed. We can also put a small amount of ashes to the side in a velvet pouch to be used by the pet parent later, to add to their own jewelry. There is a small fee for this.
